5 TIPS FOR GOING SOCIAL MEDIA FREE
2. Start a Shared Album:
Start a shared album with the friends you actually want life updates from. You can easily create these in the photo app on your iPhone (or with that one Android friend, you can use Google Pics). I've set up multiple albums with different friend groups. The photos shared in these albums are quite different from what you'd see on Instagram. And honestly, that's what makes them so enjoyable! Nothing is curated and mostly they are hilarious.
3. Print More Photos:
As humans we love looking at photos. Social media scratches that itch. Start printing more photos!
I recommend ordering ordering prints from an online printing service over buying a photo printer. The quality of professional prints is far superior. Also, depending on how many prints you order it’s likely more economical to order them from online. When you calculate the price of the printer you also have to consider the price of ink which can be quite expensive.
4. Choose a Scrolling Alternative:
Choose something that you don’t mind scrolling through when the urge really hits.
Mine is Pinterest – curate your page to show exactly what you want to see and let it inspire you to put down your phone.
You can even download a “microlearning” app onto your phone and use your scrolling time to learn something useful. Personally, I really enjoy using the Imprint App for this purpose.
Additionally, I have Chess.com and several crossword puzzle apps installed.
Ultimately, the main objective is to reduce the amount of time spent on my phone, but if you find yourself needing to scroll, it's good to engage in activities that benefit your brain.
5. JUST ENJOY YOUR TIME WITHOUT SOCIAL MEDIA:
Embrace the peace and clarity that comes from disconnecting from the noise of online platforms. Enjoy the freedom to focus on what truly matters without distractions or comparisons. Experience the joy of living in the present moment and nurturing real connections with yourself and those around you.
Reflecting on the absence of shared experiences through social media platforms, I find myself embracing a newfound sense of mystery and privacy.
Without the constant validation and comparison, I am able to focus inwardly, nurturing genuine connections and personal growth.
Embracing the unknown, I am rediscovering the joy of living in the present moment without the pressure of broadcasting every aspect of my life.
